NTA Tel Aviv Red Line
In collaboration with Royal HaskoningDHV, IBI Group was successfully awarded the contract to design ten underground transit stations and provide select tunnel services for the 23-km Red Line LRT system, connecting Tel-Aviv’s metropolitan region. Upon completion, the LRT system will become the first below-ground transit system in Israel.

Tel Aviv, IsraelRealizing Israel’s first underground transit system
The State of Israel is investing in public transportation in the Greater Tel Aviv area by implementing a network of Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines. The government company tasked with delivering and constructing transit infrastructure, the NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit system, is moving forward with the Red Line, a 23-km LRT system. Ten of its 33 stations will be located below ground, including underground tunnels spanning 11 km, making up the largest public infrastructure project in Israeli history.
IBI Group currently leads the preparation of the technical tender documents, including illustrations, specifications, bills of quantity with methods of measure, and the contractor’s description of work. Since 2015, the NTA was able to award contracts for the construction of the tunnels and stations based on our preliminary design work, which is near completion.
Our design team supports construction activities by providing high-level construction phase supervision services intended to support the delivery of work on a day-to-day basis. In doing so, we provide weekly site supervision reports, responses to requests for information, and a technical review of contractor submittals, such as method statements and shop drawings.
The Red Line is expected to be fully operational in 2023 and represents a significant step in the evolution of transportation in the Greater Tel Aviv area. Once the project is operational, IBI Group will have dedicated more than a decade of expertise and successfully participated in the completion of a new urban infrastructure system.
